Abortion will not help victims of Boko Haram’s violent rapes PDF Print E-mail

Boko-Haram-720x320Orignal post on A Christian Manifesto, June 11, 2015

Few things have wrenched my heart like the plight of the young women and girls abducted from their Nigerian school by Boko Haram and violently and repeatedly raped and impregnated by terrorists. I have not written about it because the horror these girls have experienced leaves me wordless, stunned, grieving. But, now many of those girls have returned, pregnant, and are once again facing victimization by those who would use them to further the cause of abortion rights.

“Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act” Yes! But ... PDF Print E-mail

fig03face5mosThink of the tricky balancing act parent's experience when a child's report card shows improvement but does not rise to best effort. I face that same navigation dilemma in knowing what to say regarding H.R. 36.

This bill is a huge step in the right direction but not nearly enough to achieve dignity and protection for the tiniest and most vulnerable human beings.

PCUSA Church “celebrates” abortion provider Planned Parenthood PDF Print E-mail

Pro-life Presbyterians should protest, but is there a more effective response?

presbyterianchurchusa2sm“A rally in support of abortion giant Planned Parenthood took place inside a Presbyterian Church in Louisiana last month,” reports Carole Novielli of

“Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast organized the “Stand with Women” rally in support of a new abortion facility in Crescent City. The rally took place at the First Presbyterian Church of New Orleans affiliated with the PC(USA). Rev. Fred J. Powell, III is the church pastor.”

Novielli’s article includes this link to video of the rally. Rally speakers present a familiar well-scripted message intimating that Planned Parenthood cares about women’s health, women’s bodies, and women’s rights, and “reproductive justice”—especially the “full spectrum” of reproductive justice. What they don’t say but what “full spectrum of reproductive justice” really means is abortion.

How should pro-life Presbyterians and pro-life Presbyterian churches respond?

Real Life Disconnect: 4 leaf clovers are good luck while extra chromosomes are cause for abortion? PDF Print E-mail
Written by Marie Bowen

clover4 leaf clovers are prized. My Grandmother was great at spotting them and I collected several as a child. The extra leaf makes a clover more valuable, treasured, and cherished. Why, then, I cannot help but wonder, is an extra chromosome in a human being—rather than being perceived as a rare gift—considered by 75-90% of parents as cause for abortion?

Wikipedia says this about 4 leaf clovers: The four-leaf clover is an uncommon variation of the common, three-leaved clover. According to tradition, such leaves bring good luck to their finders, especially if found accidentally. In addition, each leaf is believed to represent something: the first is for faith, the second is for hope, the third is for love, and the fourth is for luck.[1]

It has been estimated that there are approximately 10,000[2] three-leaf clovers for every four-leaf clover.[2]

I just learned something wonderful about God from my grandsons and Michael Card PDF Print E-mail

© NOBU - Fotolia.comNothing satisfies me at the deepest level of my being like spending time with my grandsons. Grandpa and Grandma spent Thanksgiving weekend with a two-year-old grandson who lives just a few hours from us. He greeted us at the door with a “Well, hello! Come right in!” It was my greatest joy to spend most of our three-day visit on the floor in various kinds of play with him. My delight meter was over the top as he fell into my arms in estatic giggles at something as simple as rolling and chasing balls (several of them at once) across the living room floor.
