Abortion: A Matter of Life and Death

According to Dr. Monte Liebman, a pro-life psychiatrist in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, “ If the adult world is genuinely concerned that children learn and live with respect for human values, it will take the first step toward that goal by putting forth ideas consistent with sustaining human life.  It will not invoke laws and behaviors that are destructive of any human life from inception to the grave; it will adjust its own attitudes and behaviors so that it becomes an authentic, living model for its progeny.” Read the entire article.

Breakfast with a Kindergartner

Cullen was eating his typical breakfast before heading off to kindergarten: a huge bowl of Cheerios covered with a thick layer of honey. It would have been even thicker if we hadn’t monitored the number of many circles he traced above this bowl with the inverted Honey Bear bottle. Read the whole story.

Life in the News

A CNN poll reveals that 50% of Americans define themselves as pro-life and 66% feel that Partial Birth Abortion should be illegal. (LifeNews.com)

President Bush signed a letter to  House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), promising to veto any legislation requiring taxpayer funding of abortion or that encourages destruction of innocent human life. 155 legislators promised the President that they will support such vetoes.

The Supreme Court upheld the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act causing a stir among groups on both sides of the abortion issue. This April 18, 2007 decision by the Supreme Court does little to reduce the numbers of abortions, nor does it address the moral and spiritual poverty of the decision to abort a child. It does ban one particularly gruesome procedure often used on viable babies Read more.

Will new testing increase abortion numbers?
Earlier pre-natal tests for Down Syndrome and a bloodtest to determine a baby's gender cause some to fear an increase in the number of decisions to abort children in the womb who are seen as undesirable because of disability or gender. Read more.

On "Quality of Life"
“This recent term represents an ancient concept which allowed the Romans, for instance, to expose deformed babies. For Christians to reintroduce distinctions between human lives is a serious error. Christ has removed all such differentiations, destroyed the hierarchy of the relative value of different kinds of people and made all people neighbors...The born and unborn, viable and nonviable, the “normal” and the “abnormal” are all of value from a Christian Perspective.”
